Doze Green got his start in the 70s and 80s in the urban and hip-hop scene. Its easy to see where this influence comes into his modern gallery work- and really develops into a style unique to him alone.

Smug One
Street art has always been a field I’ve been meaning to get into – its like that beautiful woman across the room that you really want to talk to, but just seems too beautiful, fun and charismatic to actually want to talk back to you. One day I’ll get the nerve to ask her out.
NUART with David Choe
The NUART festival in Norway happens every September since 2001, exclusively focusing on street art since 2006. This year it featured such amazing street artists such as Herakut, Phlegm, Dan Witz, and David Choe (and more!). Here is a video showing David Choe progressing on some of his amazing work. Think I might have to make a pitstop to Stavagner next September and check it out….

Happy Doubt Day!
So, today’s post isn’t about a certain artist (though, it is presented by Herakut, who is definitely one of my top 3 favorite artists of all time…..which is saying something about someone who runs an art blog!), but more about a message they are conveying through their work.
Recently Herakut, who is actually a duet of artists Hera and Akut, put out this video to promote their newest show, but I think it actually accomplishes a lot more than that. Yes, their art is amazing, but they are still real artists at hear – they definitely feel vulnerable in their craft even at the height of their fame and fortune.
They put out a video dedicated to “Doubt”.
I think as artists of all levels, its a great thing to push past the feeling we all have to put ourselves down and our ability to overcome our own negativity. Watch this video (which is, of course, full of their newest works, which look amazing!), but also look at what it is saying to you on an inner level, and take that message to heart. (Unless you get a bad message. Then, don’t think about it anymore.)
Shaka
From his recent opening in Paris, here are some amazing 3 dimensional pieces from French street artist Shaka. They are pretty fascinating as a 2 dimensional image, but when you see the painting tilted, it is actually constructed in 3 dimensions – so, its interesting to imagine what the images NOT shot at an angle really look like in real life.
But, either way, these are amazing, surreal pieces that deserve some attention.
